If you are anything like me, you probably have a hard time deciding how to decorate your home.  In my case, I moved into a brand new spec home a few years back, so I really had no choice about what the color of the carpet was or what the color of the paint throughout the house was (fortunately for me though, I liked the colors that came in the home and have only ended up changing a few colors here and there… mostly in my daughters’ bedrooms).

Over the past 4 and a half years, my husband and I have slowly, but surely, been able to find home decor items that match our personality and have transformed our house into a home. The kitchen looks beautiful with the black granite countertops… The bathrooms are all simple, yet elegant with the floor length mirrors, and the living spaces seem to match our personality while still giving us that comfortable look and feel.  Our home definately isn’t a place where guests feel like they can’t touch anything, but it still has a nice look and feel to it.

The place that we struggled to decorate the most was in our bedroom.  This was the one place that we really didn’t want to make look SOO formal.  We wanted it to look nice, but we didn’t want to go over the top with the decorations and wall decor, etc.  After racking my mind, I almost made a horrible mistake.  I had read on several blogs that painting a headboard onto the wall (or something that resembles a headboard at least) at the foot of where your bed lays was a good idea.  I have since, rearranged my bedroom a few times and my bed has not stayed in the same place.  Could you imagine the disappointment, lost money, and lost time that I would have gone through had I made the mistake of PAINTING a headboard onto my wall.

Right when I was about to make the aforementioned mistake, I was fortunate enough to receive a home decorating magazine of sorts in the mail.  As I was casually browsing through the magazine, I happened to see a picture of a bedroom.  At the head of the bed stood an upholstered headboard.  I had never even heard of upholstered headboards before, so it peeked my interest.  I had always thought that headboards were strictly made out of wood or metal, but I had never seen a headboard made out of fabric before. Needless to say, I ended up getting an upholstered headboard a few days later.
